This coming-of-age story is set in urban and rural Sweden during the late 1950s. The passion, pain, and oddities of the human condition are presented through the eyes of 12-year old Ingemar. Separated from his ailing mother and shunted from one relative to another, Ingemar is beset by a series of travails as he comes to terms with his loss of innocence. This film was an international hit and received Academy Award nominations for Best Director and Best Screenplay and won Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Film.

Rated PG-13 for adult situations.
