How do you get Southwest to answer? ›

To reach a representative, call 1-800-I-FLY-SWA or 1-800-435-9792. Since help is available 24 hours a day, you can call when it's most convenient for you.

In the search box, type in "SWA" followed by your flight number. E.g. To track Southwest Flight 1000, type "SWA1000".

Contact your carrier's customer service

When in doubt, call the carrier's customer service line and ask an agent to check how full the flight is. It might not be the most convenient option, but it will yield an answer. If you dread the idea of waiting on hold, many airlines offer customer service chat features.

Senior Fares apply only to those in the traveling party who are age 65 or over. Southwest Airlines has other discounted fares for those not meeting the above age requirements. Some restrictions and seating limitations may apply.

Live Chat can be found in the Southwest mobile app on iOS and Android devices, or on our website's Help Center. To access Live Chat in your app: Update your app to version 11.2+ or download the Southwest mobile app. Once in the Southwest mobile app, go to the main menu in the upper left-hand corner.

Does Southwest fill all seats? ›

Southwest-operated flights have open seating. Once onboard, simply choose any available seat and stow your carryon items in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you.

Usually the best way to do that is by using the airline's own app to manage your booking. Using the seat map checker is the fastest way to keep an eye on what seats are available.

Seniors do not get priority boarding on Southwest. There is priority boarding for customers who have a specific seating need to accommodate their disability, who need assistance in boarding the aircraft or who need help stowing an assistive device.
